About Perla Hopkins

State Board of Education District 5 Perla Muñoz Hopkins is asking for your vote for the State Board of Education District 5 seat. She will oppose the incumbent  Democrat in Austin.

As a former educator and military veteran who served this Country, the State of Texas and its children admirably for many years, Mrs. Muñoz Hopkins promises to focus on the critical issues when elected.

These issues include addressing school funding, curriculum content and standards, protecting freedom of religion in public schools, eliminating gender grooming by ensuring the responsibility of gender and sexual education belongs to parents and fighting for improved school campus security among other topics.

On a personal level, Mrs. Munoz Hopkins fully supports the battle to halt the Progressive Movement to remove the National Motto “In God We Trust” from all things American.

Focusing on the State Board of Education District 5 Republican candidate Perla Munoz Hopkins

In case you noticed we have been redistricted to District 5 (we were in 10).

A little background about the SBOE:

• There are 15 districts – all 15 seats will be voted on in Nov. 8, 2022
• 4 year term
• Members are not entitled to receive compensation according to Education code, section 7.105
• They are eligible for reimbursement for expenses

Since we no longer do a straight party ticket, unfortunately, a lot of these races are just ignored, but this is a REALLY important race!

The State Board of Education (SBOE) sets policies and standards for Texas public schools. The primary responsibilities of the SBOE include:

• Setting curriculum standards
• Reviewing and adopting instructional materials
• Establishing graduation requirements
• Overseeing the Texas Permanent School Fund
• Appointing board members to military reservation and special school districts
• Providing final review of rules proposed by the State Board for Educator Certification
• Reviewing the commissioner’s proposed award of new charter schools, with authority to veto a recommended applicant

“I got kicked-out of my children’s school board meeting on September 9, 2021. I asked if I was being arrested and requested an answer to this official oppression tactic. The ordeal was caught on video with several clips of that evening going viral because of the pedophilia, psychological trauma and CRT practices that were exposed by multiple parents. One would think that this was the first time that my First Amendment was being stripped of me, however the Leander ISD Board President began interrupting my testimonies since March of 2020, even my English has been corrected by an Area Supt. The District Superintendent has spent a small fortune ensuring that Edlaw and Walsh & Gallegos firms investigate me on LinkedIn and stall to create novel policies to hide my children’s story and deny due process, especially that of Religious Discrimination. Using our taxpayer’s monies! All of this, on top of being labeled a “Domestic Terrorist” has only served to ignite the Parental Rights Warrior in me!

I am a native Spanish speaker, oldest of 6, parents from Mexico and Guatemala, a first generation Hispanic-American born in California. Education has always been important to me, and I enlisted in the Air Force right after high school, attending boot camp at Lackland AFB, TX. I’ve been a parent for over two decades to public school children, married in Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic to now retired Major Bart Hopkins. I’ve had a blessed life, and nothing is more rewarding than serving others. In 2011, I was recognized and humbled to be awarded the inaugural AF Key Spouse of the Year award in San Antonio and I have been coined by the Air Education & Training Command Chaplain in Mississippi. I pray to be able to continue serving the children of Texas in strengthening policies and standards at the State level, while placing a major focus on instructional materials acquisition, fighting for quality education and family values. “
